Description
The Phidippus octopunctatus, commonly known as the Gothic Jumping Spider, also goes by the Giant Mouse Jumping Spider and Giant Grey Jumping Spider. These common names make this species easy to recognize for collectors searching for their next Phidippus.
Like other jumping spiders, this species is a visual hunter, making observation a rewarding part of keeping it. Watching a jumper orient toward movement, explore its surroundings, and stalk appropriately sized prey offers a close-up look at a very different hunting style from web-building spiders.
