Description
Meet Guyruita cerrado, commonly known as the Brazilian Savannah Dwarf or Brazilian Rock Tarantula. This compact Brazilian species is an appealing addition for collectors who appreciate smaller tarantulas and the intricate retreats they create.
Small Tarantula, Big Appeal:
The Brazilian Savannah Dwarf offers a different perspective from the giant species in a collection. A thoughtfully arranged enclosure brings its small-scale world into focus, with sheltered spaces and webbing anchor points providing opportunities to observe its natural behavior.
Temperament & Behavior:
Give this small tarantula plenty of cover and allow it to settle without frequent disturbance. Use a secure, size-appropriate enclosure and take care during feeding and rehousing. Keep it as an observation animal rather than a handling pet.
Habitat Requirements:
- A secure, well-ventilated terrestrial enclosure appropriate to the tarantula's size
- Diggable substrate and a sheltered retreat beneath cork bark
- Anchor points for webbing and cover to help it feel secure
- An accessible, size-appropriate water dish
- A moisture gradient without persistently waterlogged substrate
- Low climbing height and securely positioned decor, avoiding loose or heavy rocks that could shift
